A young boy critically injured when he stepped off his primary school bus and was hit by a car has miraculously woken from his coma — but is suffering amnesia.

Harrison Grey, 8, was on his way home from school about 3pm on December 6 when it’s understood he ran out from behind the back of the bus onto the road at Bees Creek in south-east Darwin.

He spent fifteen days in the ICU at Royal Darwin Hospital in an induced coma before being moved to a different ward on December 21 and waking from his coma just before .

He is now undergoing rehabilitation at a specialist South Australian paediatric neurology clinic where the eight-year-old is learning to talk, eat and walk again in addition to managing his ‘post traumatic amnesia’.

The boy’s parents Paula Apostles and Dean Grey are ecstatic over his miraculous recovery but admit it will be a very long road to get Harry back to his old self.

‘His long term prognosis is still unknown… Stay strong my boy you can do this,’ Ms Apostles wrote to Facebook.

She also said she wanted to raise awareness about road safety.

‘School holidays are starting and slot pulsa everyone needs to be aware of kids being out and about on or near roads and car parks more,’ she said.
